From a "Misunderstood independence" to an "Imagined independence". The political concept of independence in the press of Lima and Buenos Aires in times of revolution (1810-1816)

Resumen

En un contexto de renovación historiográfica y celebraciones de los bicentenarios en América Latina, esta investigación analiza las características, los significados y los usos políticos del concepto de independencia en los discursos de la prensa de Lima y Buenos Aires entre la Revolución de Mayo en 1810 y la independencia de las Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata en 1816. Este análisis deviene en una guerra de las palabras donde la legitimidad política y los usos, las mediaciones y las mutaciones del concepto de independencia responden a las vicisitudes del propio teatro de la guerra y a los intereses de los actores sociales y políticos que participan en ella.
