N2 - Introduction: Solanum radicans L.f. (huallpachaqui) is a plant species with potential bioactive compounds that have antioxidant properties, widely used in traditional medicine in Peru. Scientific studies supporting its medicinal use are scarce. Objective: To determine the presence of total flavonoids, bioactivating metals and in vitro antioxidant activity of ethanolic extract of Solanum radicans L.f. Methods: The powdered material from the aerial part of S. radicans L.f. was extracted with 96° ethanol by maceration. The total phenolic content was determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu method, total content of flavonoids, and metals by flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry (FAAS); antioxidant activity by three in vitro methods. Results: In the study that was carried out, total phenolic content (CPT: 39.07±0.63 mg GAE/g), total flavonoid content (CFT: 65.89 ± 0.22 mg QAE/g) were estimated; metals in mg/100 g (Calcium 9.4±0.02; Copper 0.7±0.01; Magnesium 15.8 ± 0.15; Zinc 1.4 ± 0.02); antioxidant activity: DPPH IC50 7,20±0,14; ABTS 2.31±0.01 TEAC mg/g; FRAP 1.55±0.01 TEAC mg/g; Pearson coefficient DPPH/CPT (0.7804), FRAP/CFT (0.5080); significantly different p < 0.05. Conclusions: The ethanolic extract of the aerial parts of S. radicans L.f. contains phenolic compounds and flavonoids, with antioxidant activity in three in vitro methods.
