Resumen
This study aims to analyze the experiences of pre-, post-, and in-online exposure and response prevention treatment in people living with obsessive-compulsive disorder in the context of a pandemic in Peru. A qualitative reflexive thematic analysis design was developed in this study. In total, eight people living with obsessive-compulsive disorder who completed treatment with online exposure and response prevention participated in this research. Results show that participants experience an emotional state of fear, loss of functionality, general discomfort and increased symptomatology in the pre-treatment. During treatment, they experienced fear and motivation associated with the circle of support. Finally, they experienced an improvement in their functionality due to the treatment which persisted during and after the treatment. The experience of online exposure and response prevention initially evokes negative emotions but it subsequently generates feelings of relief upon the regain of functionality.
