title = "CLUSBRIS Project: The Innovative Proposal for the Future of Space-Orbital Robotics Research and Development in Latin America",
abstract = "Due to the increasing amount of space debris in space, the Center for Space Emerging Technologies (C-SET) in collaboration with professionals from Peru and U.S., developed a pioneer project in the region, called CLUSBRIS LATAM, which is a CubeSat, which will be in orbit in LEO. The satellite will perform a calculation of the orbital jumps (Hohmann maneuver) until reaching the target, then it opens the 6 robotic arms of 2 degrees of freedom (DOF) each coupled with a gripper mechanism, and using magnetic technology and PID control it will capture the debris, finally, to finish the mission, it will be returning to the command center. It will track the space debris and will be monitored using an App. The main objective is to be a proposal for the space agencies that are part of the International Space Station (ISS) and with it to carry out the first validation tests. Then, for future work, CLUSBRIS-Sat will be proposed to be accessed by other space agencies. The preliminary design of this project was presented at NASA's International Space Apps Challenge 2021.",
