Abstract

The main objective of this research was to describe how the tourist activity in the hills of Lúcumo has been managed. To achieve this objective, we worked within the framework of a qualitative research in which an ethnographic design was used. The sample was made up of six individuals who are part of the Lomas de Lúcumo Ecotourism Circuit Association, and snowball sampling was used for this. Regarding the data collection technique and instrument, the in-depth interview and the semi-structured questionnaire were used, respectively. It was concluded that the members of the association have been managing tourism and the conservation of the hills in a planned and organized way, in addition, in parallel, they have been making efforts aimed at the development of their community. Several of these activities have materialized thanks to the support of organizations and people outside the association. It is worth noting the presence of two people, whose qualities have made them leaders of the organization. Further research is recommended, specifically on this peculiar form of leadership that exists.
