Abstract

This research seeks to analyze the origins of student politicization at the University of Arequipa between 1924 and 1928 in Peru. To do this, we describe the university and intellectual scene of the first decades of the 20th century, we explore the change of student leaders and the emergence of new university groups linked to radical indigenism and Marxism, we explain the impact of the displacement of young people from Cusco to the University of San Agustín and we examine the application of the 1928 Statute and its resistance in Arequipa.
