Abstract
In the context of the commemoration of the bicentennial of Peruvian independence, we find a diversity of thematic lines that deserve further exploration. Under this premise, the central objective of this research is to analyze the impact of diseases and epidemics during the War of Independence in Peru based on a series of medical testimonies and stories from travelers of the time. In that sense, this work seeks to join a series of investigations that contribute to understanding the situation of public health in the last years of Spanish rule in Peru, and the repercussions that diseases and epidemics had during and after the War of independence.
