Abstract
This note proposes revisiting an amended reading, proposed by Pascual de Gayangos, of example 12 («De lo que contesci6 a un raposo con un ga of El conde Lucanor. To this end, it conducts a brief analysis of the contents of the passage and establishes parallels with contemporary texts that describe the effects of war machines. It then examines the manuscripts which transmit the example and analyzes the origin of the two erroneous readings in the three subarchetypes of the text. Finally, it addresses the correction put forward by Gayangos, the history of the passage in various printed editions, and advocates for accepting the correction in fiiture editions of El conde Lucanor.
