Abstract

Educational Design Research (EDR) has taken important steps to achieve a deep understanding of a problem before de- signing and testing an improvement proposal, consolidating itself as research committed to the simultaneous development of theoretical knowledge and practical solutions, thus contributing to educational theory and practice; however, the routes to effectively realize this theoretical-practical configuration are still insufficient. Hence, the objective of the study was to establish a method of theoretical-practical modeling in social sciences, with emphasis on educational sciences. The methodology was developed from the hermeneutic paradigm and qualitative approach, 40 experts from 10 countries participated in an online interview and 18 doctoral students in a training group of 10 hybrid synchronous sessions; the method of systematization of experiences was used. The main results show that the theoretical contribution requires novelty, rigor, originality, and gene- ralization, while the practical contribution needs to be innovative, consistent, viable, informative, structured, and verifiable. Systematized experiences of the training group during the application of the method are presented, and finally the method of theoretical-practical modeling in social sciences is argued, with two alternatives, a first alternative of eight phases and a second alternative with three phases.
