Abstract

This study analyzes the 1993 economic constitution from a historical perspective, aiming to assess its contribution to individual well-being and the reduction of income disparities in Peru. A retrospective and cross-sectional design was employed, with data collected through document analysis, bibliographic records, audiovisual materials, and socioeconomic indicators. The findings show that the provisions of the 1993 constitution were a response to the severe economic, political, and social crisis of the late 1980s, as well as to an international context marked by the adoption of free-market reforms. The study concludes that the 1993 constitution and the reforms implemented during the 1990s played a crucial role in redirecting Peru’s development path, significantly contributing to improved individual well-being and a narrowing of income gaps.
