The objective of the study was to determine the influence of managerial actions and the role of the university teacher in the area of research in the Education careers of a Venezuelan Public University. It was methodologically configured within a quantitative approach, descriptive-correlational type, non-experimental transectional design, the sample was represented by 58 teachers of the Educational Sciences area. A survey and two questionnaires were used. The results allowed to identify that the managerial actions developed by the research coordination of the institution are moderate and low, which conditions the achievement of organizational objectives in relation to the research area, likewise, it was identified that the teaching role in the research area of the Education Career, integral education and computing programs showed deficient functions, so that managerial actions are required to contribute to strengthen the role of the teacher in the research area. On the other hand, it was determined that there is an average positive correlation between the variables, therefore, if the managerial actions influence the role of the teacher in the research area, it is necessary to restructure and propose managerial actions in the research area so that the teacher is more competitive and productive in the development of his function as a teacher-researcher.
